On Thursday, December 19th, 2024, Dr. Adigla Appolinaire Wédjangnon attempted to raise public awareness on the ecological importance and socioeconomic benefits of implementing the management programme of the Reforestation Area in Parakou, Republic of Benin, on behath of LERF.
During this event, he had the opportunity to communicate various development aspects of the Reforestation Area, including its importance for carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation, maintaining ecological balance, wildlife conservation, livelihood support, indigenous species preservation, training and research opportunities offered, seed collection for species propagation, and the potential for tourism development.
Additionally, he informed the public about the restoration actions that have been undertaken by the Inspection Forestière du Borgou and the Laboratoire d'Etudes et de Recherches Forestières. This includes details about the ongoing efforts to revive and keep up the reforestation area, ensuring its long-term sustainability and ecological benefits for the local community and the environment.
